Palm Desert

March 20 --- March 27

The weather was absolutely gorgeous the entire time we stayed in Palm Desert, 72 degrees has never felt better! The view of the mountains from the house that we stayed at (Thank you Leah and Eric for having me!!) was stunning but the pool might have taken the cake.

Sam and I took a morning hike on the Cove Oasis trail in La Quinta. We split off the trail for a promised view of the Sultan Sea if we could get to the viewpoint 1000 ft above us. After getting lost more than a few times we made our way to the top!

Hiking in the desert is no joke, it gets hot quickly! We enjoyed our view of the Sultan Sea accompanied by a slight breeze but as we started our trek down the sun started to feel pretty darn warm. After a delicious donut from the one and only Swiss Donut, it was time to cool off in the pool!

On Friday we had reservations to go ATVing in the desert and I was equally excited and nervous. It was my first time riding an ATV and I wasn't really sure what to expect. Needless to say, I had a blast, and riding around in the desert was an unforgettable experience!

On one of the last mornings of our stay in Palm Desert, I went for a hike to explore some slot canyons! The hike had 6 or 7 ladders that you had to climb, each one leading to another gorgeous slot canyon. Being completely surrounded by rock was a very cool feeling and also a bit claustrophobic!

The rest of my time in Palm Desert was filled with biking, eating food, and playing games. It was a nice change of pace from the solitary life of the van and I can't tell you how good it felt to stand up in a living space! Thank you again Leah, Eric, and the rest of the family for having me, I had a blast!!

Next time on the blog...

Sam and I climb the granite rock formations in Joshua Tree for stunning views of the high desert! Then a quick trip to LA and the rest of SoCal to finish off my time in California.
